Support

You care about the lives of survivors of domestic violence and their pets.  You also want to know that the time you spend as a volunteer or program partner is meaningful - that the people and organizations you support respect the commitment you are making.

This is a call to action.  Shelby SafePet depends on a statewide network of professionals and trained volunteers.  Your time, talents and resources will be the difference between giving a woman and her family the confidence to seek help, or remaining in an abusive home to keep their pet safe.

Shelby SafePet sponsors and donors want to be sure their funding is being carefully managed to support this important mission.  Please consider supporting Shelby SafePet with a gift.

Volunteers

Shelby SafePet depends on volunteers who provide direct animal care by fostering pets while survivors find the help they need.  Other volunteers provide transportation from a veterinary hospital to a foster family.  There might also be ways to help indirectly, by coordinating pet care or sending video updates to the owners.  Contact our Shelby SafePet Coordinator to discuss options that best fit your schedule.

Program Partners

Our statewide network of veterinarians and boarding facilities are critical to our ability to help survivors of domestic violence.

Veterinarians will be the entry point into the Shelby SafePet program.  Most animals will require veterinary care - whether simply updating vaccinations or repairing the injuries often experienced in an abusive home.  All expenses are paid by Shelby SafePet so we count on our Partners to help minimize costs whenever possible.

Pets will typically be in our care for a short time.  When longer term care is needed, we contact boarding facilities to help as space is available.

Sponsors/Donors

Shelby SafePet provides veterinary care, food and boarding, and will pay the pet deposits for survivors of domestic and the pets - all at not cost to them.  This statewide program cannot operate with the financial support of individual and corporate donors.
